Chicken Poop Bingo Game in RagbraiVickie Smith, a Michigan resident, cannot comprehend that she lost in a bingo game using "Chicken Poop". However, it does not meant that she do not like chickens anymore, quite the opposite. It just that, in her opinion, people in Ragbrai come up with crazy activities like this bingo game which uses chicken excrement to mark the winning number. Anthon native and designated chicken handler, 15 year old Alli Kirchgatter, explains that it is like cow-pie bingo although the they substituted the cow with the chickens instead. Alli Kirchgatter and her father, Scott demonstrated the rules and how the game will look because there are still some players who are confused on how to play the game considering that this is uncoventional compared to the traditional way on how bingo is played. She and her father stuffed eight chickes inside a cage where it had a bottom lined with numbered squares. Ragbrai riders paid a $1 dollar bet for each square. Alli Kirchgatter said that a player will win if the chickens pooped on the square that you have chosen. Although the chickens are pooping a lot, no one is winning because they have not picked the lucky number. After a while, four people had their picked squares soiled by chicken poop. The winners received half of the total amount of money that was bid by the other Ragbrai riders after the last win. Money that will be earned from the bingo fundraiser will help the Anthon-Oto Parent-Teacher Organization, in which Alli Kirchgatter's father Scott, is a member. |
